Dresser Redo "Lilac Lady"

Thanks for stopping by, I really enjoy redoing furniture
and wanted to share,  just might give you some inspiration.

This Dresser was in great shape, just needed a feminine touch
to give it a new home.
Here she is:

 "Lilac Lady"

Love the hardware, it is a joy to find a piece with great hardware!

Showing the great wood carving and applique, well trying too! :)

The Pine Dresser had never been painted, until I got
my hands on her, I hope she likes her new appearance!
Take care,
Marilyn

Awesome Aqua Painted Dresser Redo

I love Aqua and Turquoise Paint colors, and this was just the Piece for that!

Those that redo furniture know that certain pieces do tell you which color and how to
redo them!  Others, you have to take time and look at them again, and again for the inspiration to come.

I love to distress an did just that!

I was lucky to have all the original hardware!

Now, I have search high and low for the BEFORE pictures, and mind you I have tons
of pictures on my computer, iPhone, and iPad.  Obviously, my photo's
are not organized! :(  I am dizzy with hours of looking for the Before picture!
Sorry, but you know I always post the before picture, which
is always not very pleasing to the eye.  So I ask you to
imagine the above piece all brown, scratched, and in need of
a Redo!

Have a Great Day,
Marilyn

Dresser redo Pansy inspired

Hello, and welcome!

Spring is here and we all are enjoying spring flowers! We are working in our yards, porches, or just about anywhere we can put flowers adding color to enjoy!  One such flower is the Pansy for me.  My favorite is the dark purple and yellow mix.

Meet Miss "Pansy"

I decided to pull the top drawer out and do a shelf for books, treasures, or a basket?
Yes, this dresser or side table is a pop of color!   Miss "Pansy"  is sturdy, real wood,
has dovetail drawers and plenty of storage.

I can see her in a sewing room, girls room, used for a bar table, or side table!
She is reborn for a new life and home.

Take care,
Enjoy Spring,
Marilyn

Dresser turned into TV Table

Hello, Max is finally done!!!

This was a Challenge!  I knew I wanted to try this piece for a TV Media Table.
Let me tell you it is much easier, just to paint the drawers, then to remove them and
the glides and prepare the inside space for a nice shelf.  I was determined especially after
taking it apart!  After a few try's I did it!  I hope you like him.  Yes, this one is male, most of my redo's seem to be Feminine!
I painted him grey, stained the center drawers and the bottom of the dresser.
Then I added a stain glaze on the grey paint.

Hydrangea and Cat Tails for Spring Decor

Hello to everyone, today is dark, raining and cold, Spring is here they say, but only a few days at a time.
So today is a good day to post my easy Spring Wreath and Cat tail floral arrangement. If you have visited me here before, you know I like Cat tails and use them year round. I use to call them pussy willows, but found out they are Cat Tails, last summer I cut a lot and received a lot of mosquito bites, what was I thinking marshy area and no repellent!  After collecting them I just coated them with diluted Elmer's Glue, let dry and spray painted them as needed.
I also love hydrangea's but they do not survive our winters so I purchased some artificial ones and did my Spring Wreath for our front door.  I am always changing my floral arrangement on the porch and this spring did the Cat Tails for Easter and Spring.

Spring

Easter
Outdoor Easter lantern basket to go with my Easter Cat tails!

Do you have Cat Tails in your area?
Take care,
Marilyn

Vintage suitcases decoupaged with vintage sewing patterns!

For the Sewing Room!

Oh how I have been wanting to do this craft! Last year I found the suitcases and already had the old patterns for the decoupage. Sometimes it takes a while to get a project done. I did find the suitcases at two different Thrift stores, not easy to find! I did not get a before picture of them, sorry but at that time was too excited to spray paint them white!!  The larger one was blue and the smaller one was brown. Perfect condition and one even has a key!

The Styrofoam head was an after thought, isn't she pretty?

Below, I don't have all my supplies showing, of course decoupage Mod Podge is needed. Notice the pan of water, believe me carefully wet your pattern piece first it goes on the suitcase, much easier.
I just spread the decoupage on the spot i wanted to cover and then add the wet piece.  Then cover with more mod podge and smooth out, carefully,  It is a messy job and yes I did cover my work area. My husband was out of town and I worked while watching T.V. In the living room, shhh our secret !!!!!

A few cat toys in the upper left corner, it's just a home with a cat and lucky she was sleeping during most of my project.
This did take a few days, and kitty ripped quite a few sewing pattern tissues, stepped in my water tray,  and knocked over my mod podge !   But, oh it was all worth it!

Now, do I put vintage hankies, vintage linen, quilt magazines, or sewing supplies in these!
I will have to think about that!
There is more to do for my sewing room before it is completed, just wanted to share and
inspire!  Completed room will be shown soon, I HOPE!

Take Care,
Marilyn

Easter Egg Splatter

Eggs do come from Chickens!

I wanted to use a chicken Easter Basket this year!
I dyed the eggs in Turmeric!  Wonderful dye, we do cook a lot with this seasoning, but be careful, it really stains, everything!
I decided to just splatter black paint on the eggs.  I love the speckled ones, but too many of them out there now, so I wanted to do something different!  Just dip your brush in paint and splatter on!  Practice first for the look you want!

The basket was found at a thrift store, loved the tile on the front with a chicken and of course, my favorite, a Rooster.  I just dry brushed some white paint on the brown basket.

I will be going to my Daughter's for Easter.  I hope all your Baskets are full this Easter!

wishing all a fantastic Easter!

Fence panel and bird wall art

Birds, Quotes, and Vintage Knob Wall Plaque

I purchased 4 adorable bird plagues with quotes that I was impressed with from the Dollar Tree. Honestly sometimes I can't believe the items you can find there. A lot is just what you expect for a $1.00 but these bird plagues even had an easel to stand them up for display. I knew I wanted to create something with these, I just loved the birds and quotes!

I wanted to put them on barn wood or rustic wood scraps, but a check in my wood pile did not give me the length I wanted! Off to my second wood pile "Home Depot" and checked out their fence panels.  Cedar was on sale for $1.18 a panel, now how can you not try that?

Below, I took some close ups to help read the quotes.  My finished wall plaque is on the bottom of the page!

I just stained the cedar and painted it lightly with a grey paint I had.
You don't even know about my paint stash!  Hopefully it will not get to be like my quilt fabric stash?
I took off the easels and just wood glued the bird plagues on, easy! Something else needed to be done so I added a
wonderful vintage door knob!   I placed my wall plaque by the slider going out to the backyard, where I do feed and bird watch!  Love watching the seasonal birds we get!  Indoor Kitty likes watching too!

These wood pieces were from my stash, but were not long enough, just wanted to show
the bird plagues before I tore off the easel stands.

Not a fantastic picture, just could not get a good shot, could it be the
photographer, hum!

Take care,
Marilyn
