The love for the old started for me when I bought my first home in Lake Tahoe, California, it was a Knotty Pine Cabin and quite the fixer-upper. Just what I could afford, and the challenge was on!
From the exterior to the interior, I painted, restored and decorated using left overs from my divorce, garage sales, thrift stores, and antique store finds. If I did not know how to do something, off to the Hardware Store for advise. All this was way before Blogging and I wish I could have shared those times. I have been working with tools and doing just about anything a man could do. I am telling you gals you can do anything you set your mind to! I was raising two girls as a single mom, and enjoyed every moment of those times.
I always loved decorating a home and have been a collector since 1980 and have a great love for all things vintage. My Shabby Redo started spring of 2011, just doing one piece for the new home. Well, that started it, hey I loved the Shabby look, I can do this, so off I went on the hunt, bought, and prepared my pieces for whatever I felt for that piece.
This redo of old quality furnishing is just great to bring something back to a new beginning, If only the furniture or items could tell their story!!!!
I am now a Grandmother of 5 and will share posts relating to my joy of redo of furniture, sewing, quilting, crafting, DIY, and collecting of all vintage items that warm the heart.
take care,
Marilyn
